Thanx for that hbthree, much appreciated, but each take back off the club must mean something yardage wise, its just that after 6 months i havn't worked it out yet lol. I will try the % method see if that works for me!

Thanx

The "take backs" are not precise enough for me...using the percentage method I can attempt to estimate as little as 1-2 percent changes in the backswing meter...can't tell you the number of times I have said or a playing partner has said to me, something like: "hey that was a 4Iron, full backspin, hit at 92%"...Harve

Here is an easy tip for figuring the percentage: Take a self-adhesive sticker and stick it on the bottom of your monitor just below the screen. Open up the game and get yourself to a point in the game when you are on a screen where you have the meter visible. Next mark off ten divisions (or 20 if you are so inclined) starting with the point on the meter where the yellow power indicator first becomes visible and ending at the maximum power line. If you use 10 divisions, each will represent 10% of the meter (or 5% if you use 20 marks). It is a quick and easy way to judge where you are on the meter percentage wise. :good:

I would not recommend trying the flop shot out of the bunker where you have 30-40% sand, I just tried two of them in a row, hitting both with full power and hitting the button both times and the ball would not make it out of the trap. When it finally stopped in 15-20% sand I made it out easily. Luckily I was in practice mode and it didn't cost me anything! :clapping:

Ben....I have learned that with the 30-40%ers from the traps one must put full backspin on the shots; they travel about 60%-65% of the stated distance....Harve

You masters obviously work in percentages, this is where i could be going wrong.

cobra-You're not wrong. You're playing more like I do-a feel game. It keys on you knowing what you can hit with each club and then applying it to the situation. This is the practice thing but it doesn't take long to figure it out.

Write down in a list the yardages of all the clubs in your bag, top to bottom. You seem to have it covered by what's in your bag now. Get used to playing to the yardages of your strongest approach club. I play to 70-110yds out because the 4 wedges I carry all have good spin and cover 77 90 98 110 122 (the 122 is the wedge in the iron set.) Shorter approaches use chip, flop and pitch variations for coverage to the green.

This is where the feel part comes in. I can hit 70 yds by using the 77 and swinging almost full, or the 90 about 7/8 swing, or the 98 about 3/4 and so on. Learn what you yourself can do with your clubs and then play to them. Don't just whack the ball and deal with the result-plan it. When I play BPB I swap my 98 yd wedge for the 3HB because I know the 110 yd wedge well enough to cover the absence of the 98 yd wedge.

With the new balls in the last update the spin rating of the Satin wedges coupled with the SD ball make for a very accurate, controllable approach shot to the point of being able to draw the ball back. A lot of fun.

This is only my version of how to play but it works for me and is huge fun pretending-LOL! Hope it helps.

Personally myself if Im in a greenside bunker I like too use flop as long as I have a 15-20% lie just aim left and go at about the same yardage as what is calle unless you have a heavy rise in elevation and aim left the farther out you are the farther left you aim
