Guilds Open Rules
Welcome to the WGTLS Guilds Open ladder.

The format of the Guilds Open ladder is 2 v 2 Bestball Matchplay over 3 holes or more (Front or Back), any course in Ranked or Practice mode, and is for matches between Guild players where you play for the benefit of seeing your Guild rise to the top of the ladder. All players must agree on the number of holes before the match starts.

If the match is a tie after the specified number of holes then sudden death is played until there is a winning Guild. Sudden death must be played with the same course and conditions as you just played unless all players involved agree otherwise.

Any changes to the rules will be posted in the Guilds Open forum and amended here accordingly.

The Guilds Open ladder also uses the Three Strikes and Down rule which can be found here.

Bestball explanation
The two players on the team each play their own ball throughout the round. The low score, or better ball, among the two on each hole is the team's score for that hole. If one team has a lower score than the other team they win that hole. Play continues until there is a winning team. It is entirely feasible for a 9 hole match to be over in 5 holes, there by winning the match 5 & 4 (5 up with 4 holes to play).

Guild Masters
If you wish your Guild to take part in the Guilds Open ladder then select Management from the Guilds menu. Please note that you can only be a Guild Master in one Guild. It would be beneficial to add your Guilds logo if possible. However if you cannot do so due to problems with your logos size etc then please contact me via PM where I will be able to assist you. Each Guild is restricted to 6 players, which includes the Guild Master.

Joining
Players cannot join a Guild in the Guilds Open ladder unless invited by the Guild Master. This will be in the form of a Private Message (PM) sent to the player which contains two links. Clicking on the Accept Invitation link will add you to the Guild listed. Clicking on the Decline Invitation link will inform the Guild Master you have declined the invitation.

Ladder
A Guild that beats another Guild ranked higher up the ladder moves up half the distance between the 2 Guilds and the losing Guild gets moved down the distance between the Guilds, divided by 10, rounded up places.

As an example, 90th beats 5th and moves up to 48th (The math - integer ((90-5) / 2) = 42 ranks moved up).

5th moves down to 14th (The math - integer ((90-5) / 10) + 1 = 9 ranks dropped down).

If a Guild beats another Guild ranked up to 5 ranks above them then their positions are swapped.

Top 5 rule
Guilds ranked in the Top 5 must play a match within 3 days of the last one. Failure to do so will see that Guild dropped 5 ranks down the table or last place, whichever comes first.

Guilds with a rank of #6 or lower must play a match within 5 days of the last. Failure to do so within the time limit will see that Guild dropped 5 ranks, or last place depending on the total number of Guilds. If a Guild gets dropped on 5 successive occasions they will be marked Unranked on the Guilds Open ladder.
