WGTLS Rules

WGTLS 9
WGTLS 9 can be played in Ranked or Practice mode using either Stroke Play or Match Play on any course, front or back 9.

However all players must agree on the style of match beforehand. If the players cannot agree then the ladder match should be played in the default mode, Ranked and Stroke Play.

The WGTLS 9 ladder also uses the Three Strikes and Down rule which can be found here.

The winner of a match will move up the ladder half the distance between the players. The losing player moves down the ladder by only a tenth of the distance between the players.

As an example, 90th beats 5th. 90th moves to 48th, 5th moves down (90th-5th) divided by 10), which is 9 places.

An exception to the above rule is if the players are within 5 ranks of each other. In this case the players positions are simply swapped.

If the match is a tie after 9 holes then sudden death is played until there is a winner. Sudden death must be played with the same course and conditions as you just played unless all players involved agree otherwise.

In a match all players must post a loss to every player finishing above them. eg in a 4 player match the 4th placed player must post a loss to 3rd, 2nd and 1st, the 3rd placed player must post a loss to 2nd and 1st and finally the 2nd placed player must post a loss to 1st.

Top 25 players (Top 25 rule and 26 Down rule)
The Top 25 players must play a match within 5 days of the last match against a player outside of the Top 25 and within 5 days of the last match against a player inside the Top 25. Failure to do so within the time limit will result in that player dropping 25 ranks effectively taking them out of the Top 25.

Players ranked #26 or below (No-play in 5 days rule)
All players with a rank of #26 or lower must play a match within 5 days of the last. Failure to do so within the time limit will see that player dropped 10 ranks, or last place depending on the total number of players. If a player gets dropped on 5 successive occasions they will be marked Unranked on the WGTLS 9 ladder.

Hot Five rule
This rule will jump players up 6 ranks for every 5 Hot Five points they achieve. The exception to this is that players can only jump up as far as the #2 rank. If you defeat a higher ranked player you gain 1 point. If you defeat a lower ranked player you gain ½ point only if you have not played them already in your current Hot Five streak.
